Shower Diverter Valves

Showers with multiple shower heads and whole body fumigations use diverters to management which fitting is using the water when. Bath diverters are small handles that move the water from one fitting to another. Most diverters do not turn the water on and off in the shower, that job belongs to the shower trim.

Diverter valves sit behind the walls near the shower trim. Diverters are typically set in a default to force water up to the shower heads, but can be adjusted to force water through a tub product faucets, handshower, or whole body fumigations. Most tub product faucets automatically have a diverter involved. Diverters for whole body jets must be added, and require a baby shower celebration diverter handle on the outside of the walls.

Behind the walls of the shower, connecting the shower trim and diverters to water pipes, are shower faucets valves. Valves management the temperature and amount of water flowing into your shower, and also turn your shower on and off.

It is very worth noting that shower valves are brand specific! This means you can only use a baby shower celebration trim from the same brand as your device, and often a trim will only work with a specific device. If you are remodeling a bathroom and will not be replacing the device, it is important to buy a trim to match your pre-existing device. During a complete remodeling or new bathroom build where a device will be added or replaced, be sure your device matches your trim. The spec sheet and product description of a baby shower celebration trim will typically note the required device. Occasionally valves are involved with shower trim, but most are sold separately.
