Tips for Replacing A Kitchen Faucet Sprayer

Kitchen faucets sprayers make it convenient to wash dishes, clean the drain, and fill pots and pans, but when this malfunctions, it can make these tasks difficult. If the sprayer begins to stick or does not work at all, it may need replacing. Instructions


1. Purchase a new kitchen sprayer kit from the local hardware store. Make sure it is the same brand as your old one and is compatible with the drain. The kits include a water hose, sprayer head and a coupling used to connect the water hose to the current kitchen faucet.


2. Turn off the drinking water with the shutoff valves beneath the drain. If there are no valves located under the drain, turn off the water to the main drinking water in the home. This is usually located in the basement near the hot water heater. Open the faucet handle to empty any water remaining in the lines.


3. Find where the sprayer water hose attaches to the kitchen faucet beneath the drain. Loosen the connection on the sprayer water hose with a wrench or pliers. If there is any water in the water hose, empty it into a bucket.

4. Locate the mounting nut below the sprayer nozzle. Remove the nut with a wrench. Pull out the sprayer water hose and head through the top of the drain.


5. Insert the water hose of your new sprayer in the mounting hole on the drain. Pull the new water hose down with your hand from underneath the drain until the kitchen faucet sprayer head sits firmly in the mounting opening. Secure the end of the water hose to the shank tee and tighten with a wrench. Restore the drinking h2o and test the new sprayer.
